About me: I'm a registered psychologist in the Dutch health system. I have many years of experience with diverse problems and populations, ages 18 onwards.
What I offer:
*Psychological individual and relationship therapy.
*Treatment in Dutch, English, Hebrew, Spanish.
*Short waiting list. Free short orientation call if needed.
*Flexible working hours.
*Short or long-term psychological treatments; from short advice, counselling, coaching, to longer guidance/treatment.
*Problems treated: Diverse problems, such as anxiety in all its forms (including OCD), depression, trauma/PTSD, subassertiveness, low self-esteem, communication problems, life changes (life phases, immigration/expat issues), disbalance/ stress/ burnout or other work/study related issues, bereavement.
*Methods: I use different techniques, such as CBT (Cognitive Behavioral therapy), solution-focused therapy, and EMDR (a relatively quick and quite effective method for treating trauma's and sometimes other problems as well).
*Duration: Treatment lasts as long as needed, between 3-8 times on average, but could take 10-12 times sometimes, and even longer in complex cases.
*Procedure: After an orientation talk or email exchange we will make an appointment. In the first session we will explore deeper your problems, expectations, aims and needs. We will get to know each other and hopefully make a plan of what can and will be done in the following sessions, including an estimate of the frequency and duration of treatment.
The most important changes come through insight and from practicing new skills, and developing new thoughts and behaviours. Sometimes change occurs mainly during the session (such as in EMDR treatment) other times it occurs mainly in between them, while actively working on yourself. Therapy is something we do together, with active participation of the client. I'm just there to guide you, you have to be motivated to do some 'work' as well. The more motivated you are the quicker you're likely to benefit from treatment. 'Work' could involve noting down thoughts and behaviours, learning to challenge them, and more.
Prices, insurance and payment:
*Insurance coverage: often covered by international health insurance, at the moment not by national (Dutch) insurance unless specifically for the chronic/complex help. Anullment is not covered.
*The fee is 95 euro per session (45 minutes) or 80 euro online ("Covid-19 reduction") if agreed upon in advance. Discounts are also possible in case of financial difficulties. Longer and shorter sessions are possible as well, fee is to rato length.
*Appointments may be changed or cancelled up to 24 hours in advance, otherwise half the fee is charged.
Background and motives:
I'm a psychologist registered at the NIP Dutch association of psychologists. After my MA studies I went on to a two year post graduate study as well as a trajectory to gain different titles and broaden my knowledge. This has been broadened widely by different courses as well.
I'm an expat myself, but have been living here now for 30 years. I have knowledge of and am interested in (and fascinated by) different cultures.
*Philosophy:I like to think about the positive in the person or one's situation. When treating, it's usually not about a certain problem, but about developing a way of life, helping one to think more rationally, and act in a more efficient way, broaden one's horizons, get out of one's comfort zone, learn to accept what one cannot change and change what is changeable. Getting out of a 'stuck' situation, learning about one self. Getting de-stressed, de-traumatized, rediscovering purpose and enjoyment in life, being more contect with oneself.
