About me: I'm a registered psychologist in the Dutch health system. I have many years of experience with diverse problems and populations, ages 18 onwards.
What I offer:
*Treatment in Dutch, English, Hebrew, and Spanish.
*Short waiting list. Free short orientation call if needed.
*Flexible working hours.
*Short or long-term psychological treatments; short advice, counselling, coaching, and longer treatment.
*Problems treated: Diverse problems, such as anxiety in all its forms (including OCD), depression, trauma/PTSD, subassertiveness, low self-esteem, communication problems, life changes (life phases, immigration/expat issues), disbalance/ stress/ burnout or other work/study related issues, bereavement.
*Methods: Different techniques are used, such as CBT (Cognitive Behavioral therapy), EMDR (trauma technique- relative short and very effective), mindfulness and more.
*Duration: Treatment lasts as long as needed, between 3-8 times on average, but could take 10-12 times or longer in more complex cases.
*Procedure: After an orientation talk or email exchange we will make an appointment. In the first session we will explore deeper your problems, expectations, aims and needs. We will see what is needed, what can be done, ther right order etc. including estimation of the frequency and duration.
The most important changes come through from gaining insight, practicing new skills, and developing new thoughts and behaviours. Sometimes change occurs mainly during the session (such as in EMDR treatment) other times mainly in between, for example via tasks or registrations, actively working on yourself. Therapy is something we do together, with active participation of both sides. Motivation and effort are key.
Prices, insurance, payment fees and annulment:
There is no Dutch insurance coverage, sometimes there is (some) international insurance coverage. The positive side is that there is no referral needed, no diagnosis needed, no hidden costs. You pay per session. It is often much shorter and more effective.
Note- more and more often your employer will pay for (part of) the treatment. I can help you address this.
Fee: for both face-to-face and online sessions:
100 euro per 45 contact minutes (and 15 administrative minutes/indirect minutes). Longer or shorter sessions ar possible and rates are to ratio. (There is a different rate via employer).
Annulment or changing of appointments can be done up to 24 hours before the planned session, otherwise No-Show fee of 65 euro apply, due to income loss.
Background:
I'm registered at NIP (the Dutch association of psychologists, www.psynip.nl). After my MA studies I underwent a two year post graduate study in the secondary health care system, and a trajectory in the primary health care system; and since then I've been following different courses, seminars, etc. and have been supervised extensively throughout my carreer (in fact I still have supervision and take courses, to keep up with the latest updates and broaden my knowledge).
As an expat myself, as well as having living in the Netherlands now for many years, I also have my own experience to put into practice, and am interested in (and fascinated by) different cultures.
Philosophy:
I like to think about the positive in each person, and in one's situation. I'm fascinated if I a client can change his/her way of thinking into a more flexible way, can feel better with themselves, can resolve issues and/or work through trauma's, in short- can become a better version of oneself and cope better with life. I enjoy helping one broaden his/her horizons, get out of the comfort zone, deal with problems and change what can be changed while accepting and embracing what can't.
Studies/titles:
- MA in General Cinical and Health Psychology (graduated 1999, Leiden University);
- 2 year Post doctoral study ‘Gezondheidszorg-psycholoog’, in short: GZ-psychologist (a generalist-psychologist), (2004-2005, University of Groningen); however currently not practicing as such.
- Trajectory for Eerstelijnspsycholoog (psychologist specialization in the primary health care setting) (2007)
- Followed and still am following different courses, congresses and workshops.
Work:
